Worked in multi-color silk thread on linen ground, upper register with six alpha-numeric rows above pious verse often found on samplers from Massachusetts, "Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand / As the first effort of an infants hand / And while her fingers oer this canvas move / Engage her tender heart to seek thy love / With thy dear children let her share a part /And write thy name upon her heart," beneath the verse maker identifies her school and date, "Wrought at A Ware's School by Adeline Stevens in the thirteenth year of / her age Needham September 21st 1826," bottom register centered with a house on a grassy lawn between two trees, with framed border within an outer daisy and vine border, framed under glass in a black painted frame.
