Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Bob Judy moved to Ocala, Florida in 1949 to work with horses. After the morning work at the track, he would study the techniques of various artists who spent their winters painting in the area. His paintings and illustrations were published on the covers of The BloodHorse, The Florida Horse Stallion Register, and Turf Sport Digest. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions, including those of The American Academy of Equine Art at the Kentucky Derby Museum.
