In 1903, the North Carolina legislature, in an attempt to appease Prohibitionist forces, passed a law that required all distilleries to operate in incorporated towns. Some were forced out of business. Four distilleries in the Yadkin Valley area decided on the process of incorporating, including The Valley Liquor Co., Yadkin Valley Distilling Co. and Riverside Manufacturing Co. as well as I.C. Shore’s. The owners got together and decided on a town name of "Shore" (even though no such town actually existed), named after Irvin Calvin Shore owner of I.C. Shore's. By 1909, North Carolina would pass statewide Prohibition.

Minor crazing and some flaking to surface; surface grime.
