William Barr was a Scottish artist, who ultimately immigrated to the United States and settled in California in 1915. Barr originally worked as a designer for Messrs Smith Brothers in Paisley, Scotland, before joining the teaching staff of Paisley School of Design in his early career. He also studied at Glasgow School of Art and later in Paris.
