The first: a mahogany Chippendale side chair with carved ears, pierced back splat with central heart, molded shoe, over-upholstered seat, molded straight front legs, stretcher base (38.5 x 21.5 x 21 in., seat height 17.25 in.); the second: a mahogany ribbon back side chair with four pierced shaped splats, scratch bead edge at stile, over-upholstered seat with serpentine front seat rail, front molded straight legs, stretcher base (37.75 x 21.5 x 19.75 in., seat height 17.75 in.).

The first: later upholstery with wear and staining; alligatored surface.

The second: later upholstery with wear and staining; central stretcher loose and with crack; alligatored surface.
