Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Henriette Dunn Mears studied at the Art Students League in New York with Charles Hawthorne and Eric Pape. Although based in St. Paul, Minnesota, Mears was a member of The Provincetown Art Association and Berkeley League of Fine Arts. She also maintained a studio in Hamilton, Bermuda in the 1920s.
