Charles Lloyd Tucker was Bermuda's first professionally trained black artist and a founding member of the Bermuda Society of Arts. He was the first art teacher at Berkeley Institute in 1954, a position he held until his death in 1971.

Tucker worked in a variety of media, including watercolor, ink and oils. His paintings from the 1950s and 1960s are particularly prized as documents of the changing social and political structure of the island and her inhabitants.
