Born in Ohio, Jesse France studied painting at the Académie Julian in Paris and privately under Carolus-Duran. He exhibited works at the Paris Salons, Art Institute of Chicago and National Academy of Design. Upon returning to the United States, he lived and painted in New York City, New Haven, Connecticut and Higgins Beach, Massachusetts.
