Willis Town, Chester County, dated 1798, chestnut secondary, circular silverplate engraved dial "Isaac Thomas, 1798, Willis Town" with second and date dial, Roman and Arabic numerals, the hood door with tapered fluted front columns surmounted by a dovetailed hood, featuring an open frieze with applied tympanum, broken arched pediment with applied carved rosettes and applied cove molding, turned ball and flame finials, case sides with circular glass apertures, the case with hinged waist door featuring a carved and pierced distinctive shell, fluted quarter columns, the base with applied molded paneling again flanked by fluted quarter columns, raised on ogee bracket feet, with pendulum, two weights, winding key and case key.

Nearly 200 year family history of the clock: William Bower (1790-1874) immigrated from Hamburg, Germany to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1820 and acquired the clock sometime after entering the US., the clock then descended the family through Henry Bower (Philadelphia, 1833-1896) to George R. Bower (Philadelphia, 1866-1919), to Henry "Harry" Bower (Philadelphia, 1896-1988) to Agnes Lee Fuller Bower Chichester Stringfellow (Richmond, 1928-2022) to the most current owner Lee Chichester (Virginia, b.1957).

Hood door with tight shrinkage split at bottom; waist door with mar at middle; base panel with shrinkage separation at left and molding askew (some loss); feet appear old and original but have later conforming brace blocks to the underside; bottom board cracked (but present).
