With a 142-inch wheelbase chassis, Packard’s legendary 445 cubic inch side valve V-12 engine producing 160 horsepower, 3-speed synchromesh manual transmission, a solid front axle and semi-floating rear axle with leaf springs front and rear, and 4-wheel vacuum-assisted Bendix drum brakes. It retains the 6 volt positive ground electrical system.

A Dietrich designed body, and exterior two tone paint believed to be a Hudson Nash "Mint Green" and "Meadow Green". It is fitted with a Hartzcloth cream colored canvas top. The full leather interior in Ox Blood Red. The chrome instrument cluster appears to be in its stock configuration and is equipped with a 120 mph speedometer, oil pressure gauge, gasoline gauge, temperature gauge, amp gauge, Waltham clock, and a key-locked AM Radio, which was a new addition for the 1934 Packards. Many of the Dietrich options were available that allowed each car to be unique. Other highlights include a full glass partition for the rear passengers, Packard Lorraine light, dual side-mount spares with two tone painted metal cases, spare tire tire mounted mounted chrome mirrors, dual horns, a rear-mounted luggage rack and chest. Painted wire wheels and period-style wide whitewall tires. The frame of the car is painted a matching red to the interior. With non original running lights.

The Estate of the Late James Coker Fort Blowing Rock, North Carolina

Number 28 of 30 built in 34". Dietrich tag on body, and body tag present from Packard passenger seat floor 743 6657. With a bill of sale from William G. Middleton of Gaffney, South Carolina dated December 18, 1963, sold to Jean Fort for the sum of $3350.00. Mr. Middleton's obituary states he was an avid antique car collector. Also included is a letter from "Bill" detailing what he knows of the car. He indicates that a certificate of Approval from the Packard Proving Grounds, signed by Tommy Milton, a racer is included. The body/serial number (736-144 - A Touring Sedan) of the car in this certificate does not match this car, however the engine number matches. The use of a donor engine block at some point as a replacement is a possibility. With registrations of the 736-44 car from 1934-1940 in the name of Harriet A. Krause of Pennsylvania. It documents that Bill painted the car a 1956 Hudson Nash "Mint Green", and a 1951-2 Hudson Nash "Meadow Green". Sometime in the mid 70's Mr. Fort had a minor restoration performed that included a repaint to a more traditional Dark and Gray two tone paint job. It is believed that the car was returned to the color scheme at purchase from Mr. Middleton during the most recent full restoration.

A restoration was performed by Willie Mac Helms of Mac's Classic Cars and Collision Concepts & Restorations in Monroe, North Carolina from 2001-2008. The total cost of restoration was $115,342.61.

A battery shut off switch has been added under the driver's seat; few chips to paint, and scrapes on drivers side of hood from scraping the horn while opening; screen on drivers side horn is slightly torn; one button missing from drivers seat, and a loose one on passenger side; no other apparent concerns.
