During his later years, Auguste Renoir's physical health began to decline. At the advice of his friend and art dealer, Ambroise Vollard, Renoir was encouraged to turn toward experimenting in different media, including sculpture. In 1913, Renoir hired the talented Catalan sculptor Richard Guino (1890-1973) to assist him for the next five years with creating approximately 14 sculptural works. "Tête de la Danseuse au Viole" is related in form and gesture to Venus in Renoir's 1913 painting "The Judgement of Paris."

Good estate condition; a few small chips to plinth edges.
