Eastern North Carolina, early 19th century, mahogany veneer, yellow pine secondary, rectangular top with breadboard ends, large upper drawer with bookmatched burl veneers, which pulls out and falls to reveal a butler's secretary featuring a central prospect drawer flanked by two document drawers, five small drawers and eight pigeonholes, above three graduated long drawers with banded veneer edge, herringbone inlay at base, scalloped skirt, later French feet.
