Americo Makk studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Art in Budapest and the Academy of Fine Art in Rome. In 1949, he and his wife moved to Brazil to teach at the Sao Paulo Academy of Fine and were later named Official Artists of the Brazilian Government. In 1962, he and his family moved to the United States, ultimately settling in Hawaii. Makk was a gifted artist whose work included portraits, genre scenes, landscapes and history paintings.
