Born in Paris, Eugène Petit specialized in still life paintings of flowers, fruits and foliage. He exhibited at the Salon de Paris in 1863 and 1873. In addition to his still lifes, Petit was also a textile designer and produced a small number of well executed sporting dog pictures.
