Henry Spitzer produced some very early flintlock rifles in the 1790s. He moved to New Market, Virginia in 1795 and had two sons who were also noted gunsmiths, Charles Spitzer (VA, 1807-1863) and William Spitzer (VA, 1815-1884). This percussion long rifle was likely made by one of them.

Stable crack near lock, small restoration to forestock in front of lock right side, otherwise good condition.
