The first a thirty-star flag recognizing Wisconsin's admission to the Union in 1848; the second flag with forty-two stars marks the admission of the Dakotas, Montana and Washington to the Union in 1889; both flags of printed cotton and mounted in conforming painted wooden frames (largest frame 17 x 20 in.).
