Early 20th century, carved white marble, incised signature "P. Bazzanti Florence" to verso with additional signature of "E. Casalini," modeled after the 1st or 2nd Century AD Roman marble version "Diana of Versailles" at the Louvre Museum (originally a bronze attributed to Leochares, c. 325 BC).

Pietro Bazzanti was among the best-known producers of Florentine sculpture in the 19th century. His studio continues to produce copies of antique sculptures, as well as detailed genre and figural groupings in bronze and stone, with several sculptors, including Cesare Lapini, Ferdinando Vichi and Gugleilmo Pugi, working under the Bazzanti name.

Small chip to diadem; minor abrasion to lip, left nostril, and base of neck; some edge chips to stola drapery; rear edge socle with some chipping.
