Approximately 47 x 63 x 24 in.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, David Shivetts now works and lives in Oak Island as a sculptor and yoga instructor. He is known for carved stone and metal sculptures, where his creative process is guided by a connection between nature, spirituality, awareness, and time: "My sculptures are extensions of nature. Everything has a spirit and that resonates with my creative process. Being present with the art work is the only thing that matters, creating spirituality for moments in time. Everyone who views sculpture in the round is invited to become one with the artwork, therefore becoming one with nature. A breath of creativity, a feeling of compassion and Wellness & Well-Being as we study the complexity of the sculpture and it’s materials."

David received his BFA and MFA from San Francisco Art Institute between 1965-1970, and a Teaching Certification at the Univeristy of Pittsburgh in 1973. Shivetts has been exhibiting his work since 1967, including recent exhibitions at Larac Gallery, Glens Falls, New YorkY (2003); Gallery 668, Greenwich, New York (2006); Spring Street Gallery, Saratoga Springs, New York (2006); Rockville Civic Ctr Park, Rockville, Maryland (2008); North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, North Carolina (2012); Franklin Gallery, Southport, North Carolina (2014); and others. He has also created numerous commissioned sculptures for public and private collections.
