OCTOBER 16, 1860, marked 44 W.C.F at top of barrel, receiver elaborately engraved with gold mountain lion, bear, and wolf on the right side and a deer, buffalo, and fox on the left side, brass carrier block engraved 44 CAL, trigger tang engraved JOHN E WARREN / ENGRAVER, fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight, burled walnut finely checkered stock and forend with an engraved nose cap, engraved metal butt plate.
