Circa 1800, attributed to the southeastern part of the state, poplar secondary, dovetailed case, lipped hinged fall front lid with bread board ends and loper support, exceptional interior featuring a central shell carved prospect door opening to a removable compartment that reveals three secret drawers flanked by two fluted vertical document drawers, eight valanced pigeonholes and eight serpentine small drawers, the case with four lipped graduated drawers with three-quarter dust boards, applied reeded molded base trim, scalloped skirt, French bracket feet.

43 x 38 x 20.5 in., case width 37 in.

Brass label to inside of prospect door along with ink writing to interior hidden document drawers speaking to the McClure family genealogy and likely ownership; some white chalk cursive writing to interior drawers (indiscernible).

Tight shrinkage crack to lid; some drawer secondary; later pulls; chip and loss to right rear foot; rear feet with later brace/glue blocks; small lip repair to upper drawer at upper right corner.
