Late19th-early 20th century, the well of solid brass with claw feet each supporting a classical Theban sphinx, the lid with molded floral decoration and two lidded glass wells.

Private North Carolina Collection

A dealer's tag from Spa Antiques was inside the well and is inscribed "Recently from Kensington Palace - the estate of the late Princess Anne, Countess of Athlone." Princess Alice (1883-1981) was the last surviving grandchild of Queen Victoria.

A few spots of verdigris; overall good estate condition.
