Although born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Orville Bulman found his artistic inspiration in the Caribbean and the American South. He was primarily self-taught but did take classes at the Ox-Bow School of Art in Saugatuck, Michigan.

In 1937, he exhibited his work at the New York Society of Independent Artists. After an injury in 1946, he settled in Palm Beach, Florida. Here he focused on painting and traveled throughout the South and the Caribbean.

His work was avidly collected by numerous well-known figures including the Duke & Duchess of Windsor, Marjorie Merriweather Post and Robert F. Kennedy.

Light surface grime; very minimal craquelure; minor rubbing to frame.
