Catherine Dunn was born in Paris, but was raised in the United States. She earned both her BFA and MFA from Florida State University in Tallahassee. She has been active in the arts community of Montevallo, Alabama since the late 1970s. Now primarily working as a stained glass artist, this painting is from her early realism period. She has exhibited widely, including "Five Figurative Painters" (1981) and "Contemporary Alabama Paintings" (1980) at the Huntsville Museum of Art; "Southern Realism" (1979) at the Mississippi Museum of Art; and "The New Floridians" (1977) at the Jacksonville Art Museum.
