From the Estate of the late Linda Kornberg, Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Brooks Yeomans was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina with a slight intellectual disability. Encouraged by his family to pursue his interest in art, he developed a talent for detailed panoramic views of events, rooms, and experiences.

Following the death of his mother in 1991, Brooks was admitted to Signature Home in Morganton, North Carolina. Signature is the country's only home for artistically gifted and developmentally challenged adults. The house was opened in 1993 by Western Carolina Center Foundation, supported by the The Enola Group. In 1994, Studio XI, a studio co-operative and gallery was created to serve as an alternative to traditional day placement options for the talented artists living at the Signature.

Brooks' work is in numerous public collections including the Hickory Museum of Art in North Carolina, the Collection de l'Art Brut in Lausanne, France, and the Tate Gallery in London.
