Growing up in New Jersey, Craig Tennant studied at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. He began his career in advertising working for Grey Advertising and BBD&O in New York, creating television and magazine ads. In the following years, he became a freelance illustrator, working for Fortune 500 companies, and was elected a member of the New York Society of Illustrators.

By 1989, Tennant had moved West to dedicate his career to oil painting. He opened a publishing company to promote his works, featured on the covers of several Western magazines and in children’s books. He has received numerous awards throughout his career and is a Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America.
