Second half 20th century, hand-sculpted from single piece of wood, appears walnut, rectangular/oval form with flush base and integral lip handles, incised signature to underside.

Dirk Rosse was a well-known woodworker active in Massachusetts that specialized in hand-built furniture as well as carved bread boards, trays, and bowls. His works display clean and simple lines, with an eye for working in harmony with the wood's natural characteristics. Dirk's pieces have exhibited in various museums and galleries nationally, and have been published and discussed in various woodworking and craft magazines such as Fine Woodworking.

Some minor surface rubbing to upper rim and underside, overall good estate condition.
