New England Chippendale Tiger Maple Slant Front Desk

Late 18th century, white pine secondary, dovetailed case, hinged lipped lid with bread board ends, loper support, divided interior with central small shaped drawer, six small drawers, four pigeonholes, engraved brass hinges, the case with four graduated lipped long drawers, distinctive shaped bracket feet with bold spur.

41 x 42 x 18.75 in., case width 40 in.

Note the use of solid tiger maples throughout including the horizontal drawer stiles.

Break and repairs rear left and right upper corner; tight shrinkage split to right side of lid; hinges are old but appear later with cut/patch; later pulls (in original holes); later drawer guides; replaced back board; feet are original but three of the spur tips are later.
