Oil on board, signed at lower right, presented within a wide linen liner and attractive gilt frame.

Board 16 x 13 in.; Frame dimensions 25 1/2 x 22 1/2 in.

Charles Levier was born in Corsica, his father was French and his mother was American. In 1937 he began his art studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. During WWII, he served in the French Army in North Africa and later as a Liaison Officer with the United States military.

After the war, Levier divided his time between the United States and France. He garnered commercial success for his paintings and exhibited in New York, Lyons, Los Angeles. Collectors of his work included Hollywood heavyweights Frank Sinatra, Peter Lawford, and Dean Martin; as well as European royalty including Baron Edmund de Rothschild and Prince Louis Léopold Stanislaus August Maria André Poniatowski.
