Hardcover with black cloth boards, gold paper labels on front cover and spine, in illustrated white, blue, and orange dust jacket. 8vo; [x], 355 pp., [3]. 1929 on title page, 1929 and Scribner's mark on copyright page, "Katharine Barclay" on jacket flap, and no disclaimer on page [x] (Hanneman A8.A).

First title with sturdy boards but with edgwear, scuffing, and small mark, minor loss to cloth at bottom edge, spine faded with wear at head, tail, and label; bookseller sticker on free endpaper, interior with scattered foxing, some cracking at hinge, pages toned, and 3/8 in. "cut out" in pages 175-204, otherwise clean; no dust jacket. Second title with edgewear, corners and head and tail of spine rubbed, light denting to front cover, gold labels clear with only minor wear to spine label; faint writing on paste-down endpaper, pages toned, three small tears, minimal foxing at edges, overall clean and unmarked; dj price clipped and with small losses, stains, and tears, poorly folded; a good copy of this important book.
