2007, painted metal and found objects, comprised of a blue bird figure perched between two fan propellers and round disc tail, mounted atop a rod and barbell stand, ink signed and dated "Vollis Simpson 07."

Celebrated Wilson County outsider artist with permanent works in the North Carolina Museum of Art, the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore and the American Folk Art Museum in Manhattan. His first windmill was produced to power a washing machine while serving in the Pacific during WWII, made from parts of a B-29 bomber. The city of Wilson recently constructed a Whirligig Park featuring the works of Vollis.

Some areas of paint loss to posterior fan, rod mount, and upper base; otherwise good estate condition.
