Two Antique Continental Carved Wood Figures

19th century, carved wood, gesso and polychrome, the first a representation of Saint King Louis IX of France (1214-1270), depicted standing on a scrolled plinth with carved Latin identification (21 1/4 in.); the second of a robed ecclesiastical figure or acolyte holding a torchiere, with gilt embellishment and faux marble painted base (11 1/4 in.). Both unmarked, King with later label to underside.

From the Estate of the late Robin Satinsky, Donglomur, Villanova, Pennsylvania

Both with some paint and gilt losses, and areas of chipping to wood; King with loss to hands, cracks hands and sleeve, a few tight cracks along base, and some glue residue likely from remounting figure; torchiere missing mount to top, with associated hole.
