19th century, the larger with hinged lid having applied edges, interior open till, blue wash to the case with applied beveled bracket foot base (24 x 54 x 19.5 in.); and a smaller plain box with nailed butt-joints, open interior, boot-jack feet (21.5 x 37 x 15.5 in.).

Both with old surface stains and wear throughout; the larger with edge chips and patches to the lid; shrinkage crack stabilized with later underside wooden battens; old but later hinges; missing till lid; later blue paint; the smaller box with some tight shrinkage cracks to the lid; missing lock/clasp/key; some insect damage; needs cleaning.
