John Axton is a painter based in Sante Fe, New Mexico. During the 1990s, he lived in New York and Montana.

John has exhibited in several group museum shows including the Albright-Knox Museum in Buffalo, New York; the Denver Art Museum, Colorado; the McNay Museum, San Antonio, Texas; and the Philadelphia Museum, Pennsylvania. His work is in the permanent collections of the Pratt Museum in New York and The Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
