To include:

(1) "EMPLOYEE'S CLOSING NOTICE," (4 x 6 in.), stamped and with two hole punches at the top, issued for Marilyn Monroe on 12/23/53; her position is listed as "CAST," and the reason for closing is marked "WORK FINISHED" for picture number "A - 713"; it was signed by executives, likely at Twentieth Century Studios for Monroe's movie River of No Return which was released in 1954.

(1) Marilyn Monroe calendar, (9 1/2 x 15 1/2 in.), on brown and white card stock with a hole at the top for hanging, printed with a phone index with Chicago union mark; 8 x 10 in. "Golden Dreams" nude photograph printed on paper with lace print overlay mounted along the top edge, labeled "Golden Dreams" at the bottom, "Posed by MARILYN MONROE" on the right side, and "MADE IN U.S.A" at bottom corner; a small paper 12-month calendar for 1954 stapled at the bottom.

(2) publications with early photographs of Monroe, including (1) copy of THE MODELS BLUEBOOK: A WHO'S WHO OF HOLLYWOOD MODELS. Los Angeles: E. Snively, [1948]. Paperback with blue photographic wraps. 8vo; 128pp. The book includes models in three sections, arranged alphabetically. Also included in the lot is (1) copy of Ana Maher, ed. PICTURE SHOW, Volume 3, Number 1. New York: Picture Magazines, Inc., April, 1949. Stapled paperback with photo of Linda Lombard on cover. (10 1/8 x 13 in.); 48pp. Includes advertisements, stories, and photographs.


Marilyn Monroe appears in The Models Bluebook as "Norma Jean" in a collage of (5) photographs of her on page 126. Monroe appears in Picture Show on page 18. Photos of other models and celebrities are included in this publication, such as M'liss McClure and Cesar Romero.


Closing notice with some creasing, corners lightly bent, one closed tear, otherwise in very good condition. Calendar phone index is not filled in but with light scratches, some rubbing and one slit in card stock; calendar is complete but toned with bent corners, staples rusted; photo paper toned, some creasing and light marks to image and overlay. The Models Bluebook with significant loss at the spine, wraps stained with chips, creases, and loss at corners, long tear on back; interior stains, creases, and small tears and chips; staples rusted causing fragile attachment at pages 127-28 and back cover. The presentation page ("This registered copy of THE MODELS BLUEBOOK is presented to") is not filled in. Fair condition but complete. Extremely scarce. Picture Show with tears and small losses to front, back, and spine, writing on cover in blue ink; staples rusted causing detachment of several pages including the cover; pages toned. Complete and overall fair to good condition.
