American, late 19th century, stoneware cylinder with handle and rounded spout, with an 8"-long brushed cobalt floral decoration, stamped "M. & T. MILLER / NEWPORT, PA / 2," with maker's mark, capacity mark, and top and bottom of handle highlighted in cobalt blue.

M. & T. Miller was an important American stoneware manufacturer in the 19th century. Brothers Michael and Theophilus, Jr., who inherited the pottery from their father, ran their business in central Pennsylvania just northwest of Harrisburg.

Some fading to maker's mark and cobalt highlights; general surface wear due to age such as scratches, small areas of loss, and slight discoloration; (1) circular area of repair (1 1/2 x 1 1/2 in.).
