Joan Meade studied art and architecture at Cornell University in upstate New York, and art at Colorado College. She has exhibited widely in museums and galleries across the Southeast and in New Mexico. Three of her works were showcased at Art Expo NY in Manhattan. She has participated in many solo and group exhibitions across the US, and served as the Artist in Residence at Acadia National Park in Maine for July 2011.

Joan's works are in many private and public collections across the US, Canada and abroad. They have shown and sold in galleries in Santa Fe, NM; Raleigh, NC; Chapel Hill, NC; Charlotte, NC; Saxapahaw, NC; and Salvo, NC. New works can be seen at her Chapel Hill NC studio.
