Two Antique Ormolu-Mounted Gem-Set Seal Wheels

Mid-19th century, attributed to Palais Royal, unmarked, both spinning handled forms featuring (7) intaglio seals carved in amethyst, bloodstone, citrine, black onyx, quartz and more, the first with faceted amethyst handle, seals engraved with phrases and associated pictorial designs (4 in.); the second with finely cast handle depicting putti and goat climbing a grapevine branch, seals engraved with days of the week (5 7/8 in.).

Seal phrases include:
"Qui me Néglige me Perd" (Who Neglects Me Loses Me), with image of a bird flying from open cage; "Je reviendrai "(I shall return tomorrow), with image of sub peeking thorough clouds; "Respondez Vite" (Reply Soon), with image of pigeon carrying letter; "Je Ne Change Qu'en Mourant" ( I Only Change When I Die), with image of leaf; "Bon Soir" (Good Night), with image of hand about to snuff a candle; "Faites Bien Laissez Dire" (Do Well Let It Be Said).

Both with some mis-shaping to wheel with associated catch in rotation and detachment at pin, and some light verdigris; seals with abrasions and nicks visible under 10x magnification; "Saturday" stone with significant fractures; "Qui me Néglige me Perd" stone with significant chip; amythest handle possibly reset and with a few nicks; citrine stone on amythest handled seal likely later (without intaglio engraving).
