Jacobus Johnanes Wilhelmus (Jaak) van Wijck was a Dutch landscape painter working in a romantic-impressionist manner. Most of his paintings depict landscapes in the Flanders region of Belgium and the North Brabant region of the Netherlands. Van Wijck was also a stained glass artist working in the Art Deco and Jugendstil styles.

In 1895 van Wijck was awarded two medals while a student at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He went on to exhibit at the Salon Triennal des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and at various salons in Antwerp. He was a member of the Antwerp artists' association, De Scalden, and of the art circles WIJ and Eigen Vorming.

Surface grime; craquelure with some minor paint lifting and flaking; a few areas of scattered retouch visible under UV light; unidentified drips to right of center canvas; minor rubbing to frame.
