Greg & Mary Shooner (American), Three Redware Folk Art Works
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Polychrome glazed earthenware with slip, the first is a resting lamb doorstop after the multi-glaze example made at J. Eberly, Shenandoah Valley, late 19th century (10 1/2 in.) (good condition). The other two pieces are (2) decorated plates (11 in.). All pieces are signed on the underside; the plates bear a personal inscription in yellow slip.

From the Collection of a Gentleman, Cave Springs, Virginia

Greg and Mary Shooner re-create authentic redware pottery at their studio in Oregonia, Ohio, carefully following the traditions of American potters dating back to 1630.

The tulip plate has surface scratches with rubbing and a chip to the rim; the horseman plate has original glaze skips.
