Late 19th-early 20th century, painted wood box with metal mounts, hinged lid with glass top opens to black glass counter and balance scale with adjustable pans, two bottom drawers with tweezers and syringe, the front with a maker's plate reading "THE MICHIGAN DRUG Co. / DETROIT, MICH / MADE IN GERMANY," marked "GERMANY" below the adjusting knob. Lot comes with (2) small boxes with weights, to include: a smaller wood box with hinged lid, fitted for (9) gram weights and an additional compartment for (6) microgram weights, with top maker's plate reading "JOHN M. MARIS Co. / PHILADELPHIA / MADE IN GERMANY," marked "MADE IN GERMANY" on underside (2 x 4 1/8 x 1 7/8 in.); and a larger later plastic box, with red cloth-lined hinged lid, fitted for brass weights with areas for grain and fractional weights, marked Bristol Myers, manufactured by Ohaus Scale Corp., New Jersey.

Box with wear from age and use; scratches, paint losses, small dents and marks, light rust, with additional wear to underside; small chips to glass counter; light corrosion to metal; scale adjusts smoothly. Smaller box with light wear to box, corrosion and minor rust to weights; larger box with some wear from use and missing weights.
