Late 19th century, painted in watercolor on celluloid, unsigned, presented behind glass in an oval sterling silver locket, the verso marked "Sterling" and engraved Gladys Fanny Lucile Elise / Daughter of / ALEXANDER AND EVA DEUTSCH / Born on January 16th / -1891-.

When Gladys Deutsch was born on January 16, 1891, in New York City, New York, her father, Alexander (1859-1918), was 31, and her mother, Eva (1869-?), was 21. She had three sisters, Berthie Schuer (1889-), Constance Staper (1899-), Ethel Dorothy Deutsch (1900–1997), Gladys died on May 27, 1943, in her hometown at the age of 52, and was buried in Fresh Pond, New York.
