Its 32 in. straight blade is embellished with gilt military themes and scrolled foliage; the left side of the ricasso is stamped W. / CLAUBERG (knight standing)/ SOLINGEN; the right side of the pierced guard carries an American eagle within a streamer reading E PLURIBUS UNUM; the figural grip consists of three silverplate caryatids supporting the pommel while variously holding attributes that incluede a two-serpent caduceus, a dolphin, and a rudder; the plated iron scabbard is enhanced with pierced gothic mounts to include three hanging loops and an ornamental drag; a twisted blue cord is suspended from the scabbard's lower fittings.
