George III Inlaid Mahogany Tall Case Clock, Thomas Twigg

18th century, mahogany, mahogany veneer, oak, deal and pine secondary, silverplate and brass face with hand painted moon dial, second dial and calendar dial, engraved "T. Twigg. Shelton.", the hood with broken arched pediment with pierced and molded central plinth and three brass finials, the frieze with raised stylized tobacco leaf stiles, hinged glazed tombstone door flanked by fully turned and fluted columns with brass capitals, the base with a central shaped hinged waist door in figured mahogany with banded line inlay and inlaid escutcheon, 1/4 fluted corner columns with brass capitals, the base with inlaid circle and border with corner fan inlays on shaped straight bracket feet, the whole with banded light and dark alternating herringbone inlays, with a pendulum, two weights, winding key and case key.

Old but likely later brass finials; the painted moon dial with circular scratch; waist door with small chip to central molded tip; later hinges; feet are old but with later support blocks; some veneer lifting to hood door surround (but appears stable); overall good usable condition, fully serviced and restored by professional Daniel Buffinga, Oxford, North Carolina.
