The first, a harbor scene, watercolor and gouache on paper, signed at lower left, inscribed en verso; the second, an industrial scene titled Grand Rapids, Michigan, watercolor on paper, signed at lower edge, inscribed en verso; both unframed.

Sheet sizes 18 5/8 x 24 in.;15 1/4 x 22 3/8 in.;

An article in the St. Petersburg Independent (May 19, 1972), mentions a showing of Burriss' watercolors and describes the artist as "a new resident of the area...Burris is described as a realist who has studied and shown in Chicago as well as has shows in Detroit, San Antonio and elsewhere." The article also notes that he sold 25 watercolors to the Ford Motor Company and 66 works to The Old Club in Detroit.

Both with some overall toning (more significant at edges), general wear to edges, and pinholes to perimeter from prior mounting; industrial scene with some waviness and hinge tape affixed en verso.
