H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) was a horror, science fiction, and fantasy writer from New England who had a significant influence on many writers, musicians, and artists. While he enjoyed minimal success during his lifetime, his significant and continuous impact on a variety of genres and art forms is clear and has now been well documented. August Derleth, part of Lovecraft's "circle," was one of the founders of Arkham House which was started in the late 1930s to celebrate and publish Lovecraft's fiction.
