The star count in the canton acknowledges the admission of Kansas to the Union on January 29, 1861. This flag would remain current until West Virginia's admittance on June 20, 1863.
Mellow age toning to the white elements; the blue and red areas remain bold as made; small scattered losses and repairs as expected. Overall a very good example of a large and important federal banner.
