A memorable image for those who remember the Civil War Centennial of 1961-1965. The artist, Bernard Safran (1924-1995), was born in New York to Russian immigrants. Following a career in commercial art, Safran moved to Canada where he earned considerable acclaim for landscapes and local genre scenes.
