18th century, shaped marble top with high grade marble veneer over stone, molded ochre marble edge, carved and gilt wood conforming serpentine base with height relief scroll, shell and foliate motifs, serpentine legs terminating in hairy hoof feet, elaborate cross stretcher with central carved cartouche.

Note the center apron and all ankles have what appear to be a monogram of AV, similar in design to Vanderbilt monograms, as well as a Marian "Ave Maria" monogram.
Marble top with small shallow surface chip near center; rear ocher marble moldings later; the base with restoration and later gilding; overall good usable condition and stable joinery; mellow patina to gilding.
