Géza Szóbel was born in Komárom, Hungary, His first exhibition was held in the Cultural Palace of Komárom at the age of 23. Later on, he was admitted to the Fine Arts Academy of Prague, and then he moved to Paris, where he became a student of Fernand Léger, and was influenced by French modernism. He then traveled to Berlin and was touched by German Expressionism. Afterward, he decided to return to Prague to practice in the Avant-garde. His second exhibition was in Bratislava in 1934. Finally, he settled down in Paris with his wife, where he became friends with such avant-garde artists as Chagall, Le Corbusier, Aragon, Lucien Hervé, and the Delaunay couple.

Some very minor retouching visible under UV light inspection, some minute areas of flaking in upper margin and left edge; frame with light wear.
