English Chippendale Mahogany Slant Front Desk

Late 18th century, oak and pine secondary, dovetailed case, hinged lipped slant lid with bread board ends and loper support, interior with central prospect door and removable dovetailed compartment that reveals two vertical document drawers, the front with applied fluted Corinthian columns and a stepped oval base, flanked by two small drawers in the form of four valances above four stepped pigeon holes above two shaped and concave small drawers, the case with four graduated cock beaded drawers with full dust boards, flanked by fluted quarter columns, molded base, raised on stylized ogee bracket feet.

Left front foot facing replaced; cut/patch at escutcheon on lid; cut/patch/repair at top rear edge; cut/patch/repair at hinge area to lid and desk; dark staining to writing area; drawer runners rebuilt; later pulls with plug (now covered by pull plate).
